About Gîtes de France

Over the years, the Gîtes de France label has grown to become Europe's number one network of bed and breakfasts, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2005.

Our values

A Gîtes de France holiday is both enriching and relaxing, thanks to the 43,000 men and women who welcome you into their homes, each one different and unique.

These values have made Gîtes de France a leading force in sustainable development for rural tourism.

Ratings

The Gîtes de France quality label guarantees that your accommodation meets specific standards of comfort (from 1 to 4 "ears of corn") and complies with the network's national charter.

Gîtes de France guesthouses are inspected at least once every five years; the ratings vary according to the quality of the architecture and setting, the level of comfort and the services provided.  Whatever the rating, your hosts will do everything to make your stay an enjoyable one.

Prices

Prices are quoted per night - depending on the time of year and the number of people staying in the room - and always include breakfast.

For table d'hôte meals (starter, main dish, cheese and/or dessert, coffee, drink), the listed price is meant only as a rough guide; a special children's rate for meals is sometimes available to families.

Facts and figures

In France, across the 95 departmental offices and the National Federation, Gîtes de France has a team of over 600 people to work with property owners and holiday-makers.

43,000 property owners, 56,000 accommodations, 35 million holiday days give Gîtes de France a turnover of 450 million euros and provides 750 million euros to local communities all over France (20% of this from international clients).  Gîtes de France has also invested 230 million euros in maintaining important heritage sites.

Overseas

Gîtes de France is a member and co-founder of the European association, Eurogîtes (www.eurogites.com).  Eurogîtes allows holiday-makers to find out about guest-house offers, mostly in the country side or on a farm, in 24 countries.

Each country has developed their accommodation in keeping with their traditions and environments and the standard of the properties can vary from country to country.  This is a totally unique way to find out about new types of holidays and destinations.
